Connect GitHub and enable PR Cost Attribution
Connect repositories and combine pull-request data with engineers' Desktop activity.
PR Cost Attribution combines two data sources:
- GitHub supplies repositories, commits, and pull requests.
- SuperPenguin Desktop supplies each engineer's local AI coding activity.
When both are available, SuperPenguin can associate AI coding cost with the pull request that produced it.
PR Cost Attribution requires:
- Pro, or an Enterprise workspace with the entitlement enabled.
- Desktop reporting from the engineers whose work should be attributed.
- A GitHub connection.
Cursor billing is optional. It adds provider-billed Cursor dollars, but Claude Code and Codex PR attribution do not require Cursor, Anthropic, or OpenAI billing connections.
Connect GitHub
- Open Integrations.
- Find GitHub.
- Select Install GitHub App.
- Sign in to GitHub if asked.
- Choose the GitHub organization.
- Select the repositories SuperPenguin may access.
- Return to SuperPenguin and confirm the connection.
Installing the GitHub App for an organization must be completed or approved by a GitHub organization owner or administrator. The GitHub App is the recommended connection method because it avoids managing a personal token.
SuperPenguin automatically syncs the repository and pull-request metadata shared by the installation.
Connect every engineer
GitHub data alone does not include local AI coding activity. Each engineer must also install SuperPenguin Desktop, sign in, and select the company workspace.
The PR Costs setup panel marks these steps complete when:
- The workspace has the Pro-or-Enterprise entitlement.
- The workspace has a supported Desktop reporting signal.
- The workspace has a GitHub integration.
The panel also offers Cursor billing as an optional step. It does not block PR Costs completion.
GitHub is required only for PR Costs. The AI Coding dashboard can report Claude Code and Codex activity after the plan and Desktop steps are complete without GitHub.
Visibility
Workspace owners and members with organization-wide AI Coding access can view aggregate PR Cost Attribution. Ordinary members remain self-scoped.
See Workspace roles and AI Coding visibility for access details.
If setup is incomplete
- If GitHub is disconnected, reconnect it from Integrations.
- If repositories are missing, review the GitHub App repository selection.
- If an engineer has no activity, confirm Desktop is installed, signed in, and using the correct workspace.
- If the feature is locked, review Plans and entitlements.
See Set up AI Coding and PR Costs for the shared checklist and optional provider connections.
